How Water Can Boost Your Immune System

You’ve been doing chores all day without a break. You’re extremely tired and your mouth is so dry, you need something to quench your thirst. Grabbing a delicious soda is what you want, but in the back of your mind, you know that drinking a chilled glass of water is a better decision. Sugar filled soft drinks and artificial fruit juices with added sugars will never compare to a cup of H2O and its benefits.

When you’re sick, feeling drained, or need something to rehydrate, what would your doctor recommend? Most likely they’ll tell you to drink a few glasses of water. Water should be your automatic go-to drink of choice because of its amazing health benefits. Water does wonders for your body that you probably didn’t know before reading this article. Learn how drinking water can boost your immune system.

Why Drink Water?

Your body needs water, it’s good for you. When you exercise or participate in any physical activity, you sweat. Sweating causes your body to lose electrolytes. Water can replace those lost electrolytes. Monitoring your water intake is important because water lubricates your body to give you the energy you need to approach the day with full force. A diet without enough water can cause dehydration, fatigue, and lead to some serious health issues. A diet that properly incorporates water can have good long-term effects.

Ways Water Boosts Your Immune System

Your immune system consists of the lymph system that includes white blood cells, organs, and tissues. It allows your body to work to fight off illnesses and infections. When you drink water, it does a few things within your immune system, to keep it functioning properly.

  • Flushes out toxins
  • Keeps eyes and mouth clean
  • Helps digest food
  • Helps prevent common illnesses

You must drink more water than you probably realize. Start with a little and then work to increase your intake day by day until you reach your recommended amount, it is usually around 8 glasses a day. Adjusting to drinking water can be hard at first, but the good long term health effects should make you change your mind. You don’t want to wait until it’s too late. If your body is lacking water, then your immune system is not at its best and that’s not good. Water can be described as a cleanser. It helps to cleanse and replenish your body. A simple cold or infection can be prevented just by drinking some water throughout your day.
